If like me you use WordPress a hell of a lot, are always trying out new themes, plug-ins and modifying stuff then getting a local installation of WAMP is the way to go. However you may have found yourself on this page due to seeing the problem where it plain won’t start. Well this happened to me, and I tracked it down simply to Skype. Not sure why the conflict, but if you quit Skype WAMP Apache will then start fine. I am using Windows 7 64 bit, and WAMP 2.1d.

You can restart Skype afterwards, and they both work fine. Probably a way to prevent this conflict permanently, but I leave my PC on most of the time anyway, so this works for me! Let me know if it works for you or not in the comments :)

Skype and wamp both use port 80 by default. So there may be conflict
